Departments

The Department of Business Administration has a time-honored history, which can be traced back to 1955 when the major of engineering economics was established. In 1988, the major of marketing was formally established and started the enrolment national wide, as one of the pioneering marketing majors in China. Due to the demand of professional specification, the Department of Business Administration was formally established in 1994. In 1997, the department was authorized to grant master's degree of business management in two research directions: marketing and human resource management. In 2005, it was authorized as a doctor station of business administration with research directions in strategic management, marketing management, human resources management, technological innovation and technological management. In 2012, an undergraduate major in human resources management was established and started the enrollment.

Adhering to the principle of scientific, innovative and practical education, the Department of Business Administration is committed to fostering practical and innovative talents by combining scientific research with teaching closely. Taking the engineering literacy as the basis, with scientific research as the support, we aims to foster students with management expertise and refined knowledge of arts and sciences. We actively explore a training mode which features solid foundation, wide caliber, high quality and strong ability, creatively integrates scientific research, teaching and practice, and gives full play to the role of academic leaders and advantageous teams so as to build the department an important base for cultivating students, creating knowledge and serving the society.

There are currently 21 full-time teachers in the department, including 9 professors, 11 associate professors and 1 lecturer. One teacher has been awarded as distinguished professor of "Changbai Mountain Scholars" and one as "Kuang Yaming Distinguished Professor". Among the professional teachers, 7 are doctoral tutors, 20 are master tutors, 12 have overseas study and visit experiences, one professor is entitled to special government subsidy from the State Council, and one professor is selected into the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education. The teachers of our department have undertaken a number of general/youth projects of national natural science foundation, projects funded by the humanities and social science foundation of the Ministry of Education, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects and enterprise consulting projects. The high-level research is fruitful with many SSCI and SCI papers published.  At present, the Department of Business Administration has laboratory platforms such as human resource management and practice laboratory and marketing comprehensive decision simulation laboratory. The discipline has developed rapidly thanks to the mutual support and coordination of teaching, experiment and scientific research.
