Undergraduate Program of the Archival Science

一、Objectives

The major is aimedto cultivate professionalandinterdisciplinary high-level talents who meet the needs of socialist modernization and future social economic and scientific and technological development, have harmonious development of morality, intelligence, physical body and aesthetics, as well as a healthy personality. Students shallmaster management, historical methods, basic principles of economics and modern information technology applications, and the basic theories, methods and techniques of modern archival management,arefamiliar with the guidelines, policies and systems in the archival science at home and abroad, andarecompetent for modern archival management. After graduation, students are able to continue their study in the fields of library and information management, management science and engineering, business administration, public administration, etc., or to engage in file resource management, data management, information analysis and decision-making consultation, human resource management and office managementinstate organs, universities, research institutes, and large enterprises.

二、Requirements

Students of the major shall master the basic theories and knowledge of information resource management and modern file management, accept basic training in the management of archives and the development and utilization of archival resources, and master the knowledge and skills of management of archival information resources, information management, office management and data analysis and processing.

Graduates should have the following knowledge and abilities:

  1. Be patriot, professional and responsible for the society, and have good professional ethics andprofoundhumanities literacy;

    2. Have knowledge of general literature, history, philosophy, bioethics, ideology, politics, art, law, psychology, etc.;

    3. Master the basic theories of management, economics, administration and public management;

    4. Master the basic theories and methods of modern archival management and modern technology;

    5. Master the basic methods and technology of modern information management and information processing;

    6. Understand the new trends in social, economic and technological development, and be familiar with the laws, policies and systems of file management at home and abroad;

    7. Have a preliminary ability of scientific research and practical work, good foreign language communication ability and scientific thinking ability.

    Major disciplines:Library Information and File Management

    Core courses:Management, Economics, Operations Research, Management Statistics, Basic Accounting, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Database Principles and Applications, Organizational Behavior, Archives Foundation, Archives Management, Administration, Public Administration, E-Government, Information Storage and Retrieval, Scientific and Technological File Management, Modern Clerical Secretary, Archive Document Compilation, Chinese and Foreign Archives Business History, Archives Regulations, Electronic File Management (bilingual), etc.

    Main practices:Management business understanding internship, business information analysis and decision-makingsimulation training, web crawler data analysis and application simulation training, archival business examination, innovation and entrepreneurship simulation training, graduation thesis, etc.

    Major experiments:Electronic file management experiment, file organization experiment, science and technology file management experiment, etc.

    四、Features and directions

    Students of the major shall have an extensive knowledge base of management, economics and humanities. We adhere to the concept of broadly-rangingand thickly-based training, emphasize the practical application of modern information technology, as well as the interdisciplinary integration of different majors, and the combination of theory and practice and a multi-functional ability. We focus on cultivating high-level talents in archival information management, office affairs, and data processing and analysis for modern enterprises and governmental bodies.

    Four years in general.

    Bachelor of Management.

    七、Qualification standards for graduation

    1.Have a good ideological and moral quality, conform to the college's moral education and sports requirements.

    2.Passallthecoursesspecified in the program, and obtain the total credits of 150.5 required by the major, of which the theoreticalcourses are128.5 credits and the practicalcoursesare22 credits.

    3.Obtain8 credits for the extracurricular training program.
