The former Jilin University of Technology approved to establish the Information Research Office (with 24 registered staff members) in 1978. The Department of Education of the former Ministry of Machine-Building Industry approved to establish the “Research Institute for Information Science of Jilin University of Technology” (with 26 registered staff members) in 1985. In the same year, the Information Science Journal was launched, and the Information Science Journal Office (monthly journal, national-renowned core journal, with 6 fixed registered staff members) was approved to be established by the Provincial Press and Publishing Bureau. Since the merger between Jilin University of Technology and Jilin University in 2000, the abovementioned organizations were merged and developed into the Research Center for Information Resources of Jilin University. The Research Center currently has a Research Office for Knowledge Management and Data Mining, a Research Office for Information Resource Management, a Research Office for Theories and Application of Information Economy, a Research Office for Modern Technologies of Archives Management, and the Information Science Journal Office, with 19 full-time and part-time researchers.
