To meet the needs of economic development for financial management talents, the major of accounting (finance and banking) in the School of Management of Jilin University was set up in May 2012 in the Department of Financial Management. The department has undertaken the mission to train students for bachelor’s degrees, master's degrees and master's degrees and provide financial institutions, companies and various economic management organizations with qualified financial management graduates with solid theoretical foundation, strong adaptability, outstanding practical ability and global vision.

Elite selection, scientific system and capable team. At the Department of Financial Management, we have a team of teachers with high scientific research level. The faculty team is balanced in academic backgrounds and ages and strong in teaching and scientific research capabilities. At present, there are 8 teachers, including 2 doctoral tutors, 2 professors, 4 associate professors and 2 lecturers. Fruitful results have been achieved in many relevant fields, which lays a solid foundation for the rapid development of the department, fully tapping the potential of the major to meet social needs.

Full of vigor, solid foundation and unlimited potential. All the teachers in the department have doctor's degrees (one from overseas university). Their average age is only 40 years old, 75% are young teachers and 62.5% born after 80s. The team is young, vigorous and innovative. They have undertaken several national, provincial and ministerial projects, including projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, the humanities and social sciences foundation of the Ministry of Education, the soft science program of Jilin Province, and the social sciences foundation of Jilin Province. The total funding for scientific research projects exceeds 8.5 million yuan. More than 60 academic papers have been published in high-level academic journals at home and abroad.

Lofty morals, fruitful talent cultivation. At present, there are more than 100 undergraduates (excluding students of 2018 training program), more than 20 postgraduate students and more than 10 doctoral students studying in the department.

Many graduates pursue further studies in well-known universities at home and abroad, or find jobs in the financial industry, universities, government departments and well-known enterprises and institutions nationwide.  Among them, nearly 80% of undergraduate graduates have successfully continued their studies in domestic and foreign universities. Graduate students find jobs in financial guarantee companies, state-owned enterprises, central enterprises and other institutions. Doctoral graduates work as teachers in Northeast Normal University, Jilin University of Finance and Economics, Northeast Electric Power University and other universities after graduation.

Actively strive for success, forge ahead with a global vision. The department encourages and supports teachers to visit, exchange and study in well-known universities at home and abroad. Some teachers have exchange experiences in British, American and Japanese universities. We invite well-known experts and scholars to visit our department and give lectures in order to enhance professional awareness and academic identity. We jointly organize academic forums with the Department of Finance of the School of Management of Taiwan National Donghua University and Taiwan University to strengthen exchange, and develop a “2+2” cooperative training model for undergraduates with the Department of Finance of the School of Management of Taiwan National Donghua University.

Based on the requirements of “solid foundation, wide caliber and high quality”, the Department of Financial Management is working hard to enrich the discipline system, enhance the foundation of the major, and establish a talent training base with distinctive professional characteristics, excellent teaching team and strong innovation advantages.
