School of Management Colloquium (4): Online Seminar by Professor Sebastian Kummer, Head of Institute for Transport and Logistics Management, Vienna UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS

The School of Management Colloquium consists of a series of lectures and seminars given by leading scholars of the management field, designed to increase students’ academic and critical thinking abilities. The fourth colloquium session was given by Professor Sebastian Kumme at Vienna University of Economics and Business. Dr. Kummer’s seminar, titled “Relevance and Scientific Progress in Logistics and SCM” was hosted online by the Deputy Dean Professor Fan Xuemei, and attended by over 100 students and faculty members.

Professor Kummer first introduced the responsibilities that should be taken by academia during the pandemic. He then shared how scholars in logistics and SCM should conduct their research, which includes how to find new topics of research both theoretically and practically, how to formulate ideas into research, and how to transform research into both publications and practical applications. Professor Kummer also introduced his research plans for the next year, as well as how he believes human, society, supply chain, and corporate resilience may be aided by future logistics and SCM research.

Professor Fan thanked Dr. Kummer on behalf of the school and stated that the college will continue to host the colloquium as a platform for international exchange to foster the high quality of academic atmosphere expected by both the students and the faculty.
